Timing System

FOKUS BANK OSLO MARATHON uses Champion Chip timing system. All participants will use a chip for timing. You can find this chip together with the race bib in the start pack envelope.

No chip – no time!

The chip as well as the bib number are personalized. The bib and the chip have different numbers. The chip must not be used by others. The chip will record your starting time, your lap time and your finishing time.

Before start, attach the chip to the shoe laces as shown in the picture. The chip acts as your personal stopwatch and it is your responsibility to ensure the chip to be secured and working throughout the race.

We use math start (net time), that is, the timing mat is located at the starting line. The time for each participant starts as you pass the mat. The mat at the finishing line record your end time. You will hear a small “beep” every time you pass a mat, which indicates that your chip is working.

Fokus Bank Oslo Marathon uses disposable chips, you do not need to return it after the race. BUT because of recycling, we ask of each participants to return it in the marked barrels after the finish. Thanks for your help!
